Supporting Jacaranda

Jacaranda's Current Needs

•  Transport . The Workshop needs a small car for transport purposes to buy materials, marketing and other administrative issues.

 

•  Regular support . The workshop needs to be supported through regular donations of cash for purchase of materials. Due to the rising cost of living, the wages need to be improved to reflect the current needs of the artisans and the staff. Cost of food, which we provide to both artisans and staff while on duty, is increasing day by day due to increase in the price of the foodstuffs that we use. These include maize flour, rice, sugar, cooking fat and the groceries. We therefore need to get support through donations for the above-mentioned items.

 

•  We also need a good computer, which we can use for communication ie send and receive e-mails and other office work. This will help us market ourselves more easily.

 

•  Repair and maintenance of workshop equipment and purchase of new tools requires for making handicrafts. These include flat nosed pliers, round nosed pliers, side cutters, ball pen hammers and vices & clamps.

How can you help us?

You can donate money for specific requirements eg for food, lose tools, equipment for making jewelry, materials etc. You can also donate office equipment such as a photocopiers, computers etc.

 

Together, we can improve the lives of the mentally challenged so that they can live either normal or near normal lives and hence reduce dependence on their ageing parents. We believe we can do it. Please help us to help ourselves.

 

Legal status

Jacaranda workshop is a charitable organization under the “Jacaranda Trust”. The Workshop buildings and other facilities have been provided by the Rotary Club of Nairobi.
